Victorian Pranks...
...this week's talk of school pranks reminded me of an event during the Qualifying Rounds. As usual, it was a hot dry afternoon when the sun envelops everything, and you can melt into the tar on the road.

I was hanging around waiting for the next activity to start when I heard this great cheering and clapping. I looked and they, including some teachers, were  all egging on these few schoolmates of mine in their last desperate 80 metres sprint to finish within the qualifying time. They huffed and puffed and lunged for that last 2 seconds into the finish line, and qualified.

They then rolled onto the ground, more from bursting into laughter than exhaustion. Later I was to find out why.

This was the 1,500 metres event, and one has to run three and three quarter rounds around the 400 metre track. When these friends of mine finished one round, they promptly limped off to rest under the trees at the far end of the field. When they timed that the last round was on, they just joined the other runners again and with the dying seconds, ran as though it was the race of their lives for the finish line. What matyrs to the cause of the Qualifying Rounds, what undying spirits they displayed in the true VI tradition - as seen by others.

Well, one of them was a school sprinter. If you wish to know who they were, ask me. haha.

Merdeka! Historical Photos Discovered!
...never before seen. We are all familiar with the photo on the right, right? We know the period it belongs to as well.
What about the one on the left? Note the same black and white color, the rough grain of the photo, etc. Let me tell you, this is the most important photo find of this century. If you are not convinced, we can carry out carbon dating tests. It looks like they are in this giant bathroom, what with the white tiles at the back, though.
Next week - 'P Ramlee', 'Sharifah Aini', 'Frankie Cheah' & 'Francis Yip' - watch out for them, friends.

Start The Week Laughing...
(Thanks, Hawk, for contributing the following laugh.)

Sherlock and Watson were camping. The chill of the night woke them. The stars
were shining in all in its majesty.

"What does that tell you?" asks Sherlock.

Well, astronomically it tells me Venus is rising. Theologically, it shows
the masterpiece of the Creator. And philosopically, I wonder if anyone is
out there, answered Watson proudly.

You idiot. Watson. Elementary. Someone stole our tent!

...and some wise words for thought from Hawk as well -

What has the class of 74/72 in common with our sun?
The star is also mid-life (astronomically speaking)
To make your second half even better, for those of us who are looking for a
formal statement of spiritual belief ie a creed, the following is as good as
any I have come across:

Watch your thoughts,they become words,
watch your words, they become action,
watch your action, they become habits,
watch your habits,they become character,
watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.
